This is a massive spoiler, if you opened this comment by mistake then this is the second warning. For those that like their laidback life, staying in the sidelines and watching the world change behind the scenes and cherishing life to the fullest; prepare to be disappointed in the later arcs specially once they cross the Tian Duan Plains. Chen Xuan suddenly acts all mysterious and keeps secrets from Old Ox, planning like a mastermind and involving his group in major incidents, even going as far as to take massive revenge on a person on peak level cultivation in that place. He even develops a second personality that is supposedly arrogant and indifferent. When they rushed collecting the required resources and knowledge to breakthrough, it's like they developed backwards. While the reasons for their rush is justified by wanting to create a passageway to save Qian, it's still a pretty forced one that those that enjoyed the previous tone of the novel may find frustrating.

It's not a bad novel, but after reading a bit more than a hundred chapters, I got tired of it.

To anyone afraid of pacing for this novel dont be. The lack of time skips helps the reader enjoy the weight of his small leaps in progress and gives a unworried and relaxed feel expected of an immortal human turned cultivator. MC isn't on a ticking time bomb known as lifespan so just enjoy the read and don't expect abrupt powerups.

Ch.71 An interesting premise, a more than average execution. Time jumps are becoming increasingly rare (even later according to others) which completely destroys the concept of the novel and no longer differentiates it from other novels which take place over a few years despite an increasingly long lifespan for the MC. I don't like the MC's personality, but that's just a personal opinion. probably 3.5/5

If you're writing this based on chapter 71 you can't complain about the pacing of the novel. I feel like in earlier chapters pacing is perfect since you feel the mortality of non cultivator characters. Personality wise MC is just enjoying life without being a pushover. Edit: What does "increasingly long lifespan" even mean in this context? MC doesn't have one he's unaging therefore his lifespan is nonexistant.

In other novels, the MC usually progresses through the ranks of cultivation in a matter of years or decades when he have a lifespan of several thousand years or even longer. the novel does not exploit the immortality of the mc at all. Or at least, the potential is EXTREMELY under exploited.

Not spoiling anything but I'd be more comfortable putting it up anyways. I see where you're coming from if you're used to that sort of genius aptitude for cultivation, but you also have to realize he's starting in a cultivation world where the ceiling is Nascent Soul and his 5 elemental roots is considered hopeless. MC's progression by 214 feels very satisfying and organic. With his only advantage at the start being endless lifespan and points that give him an enormous foundation compared to people in a similar realm this slower pace at the start just feels right. Novel also makes it clear he doesn't have the cultivator mindset or "talent" we usually see in our MCs.

Did you just say - his only advantage at the start being endless lifespan and points that give him an enormous foundation compared to people in a similar realm. What else is needed in a cultivation novel.

I don't see your point at all. He's no genius and this is the type of crutch he needs to be superior. I'm trying to convince someone that it's worth a read not if it's actually a cultivation novel.

Good enough for passing time but it becomes monotous without any conflict ... starts reading like a journal without any direction motive or anything really

The story just starts of slow, it’s definitely not monotonous once it gets going.

Bro i've read 110 chapters and left when he reached golden core...he's behaving like a fly...going from one place to another without any purpose just exploring... hence why i said its like a journal ...not a story
