I have to say it right now that the allheaven in this and in Issth are not related at all. All heaven here is just a name of a star system. All heaven in ISSTH is a villian in that book. Not at all same. They just have the same name by chance. It might be because of translation idk

you might be saying about him destroying the finger of allheaven but that would take place after he reached 4th step as only then would he have the power to do that. So it doesn't make sense for a start system inside a cave world where the limit of cultivation is 3rd step to have something to do in relation to the real Allheaven In POT too it was not shown him destroying the finger.

I heard from a few fellow daoist that all of Er Gen's novel are somewhat connected yet not connected. Like how I heard the Heaven Defying Bead found in the beginning in RI was actually created by the protagonist of PoTT. If anyone is willing, what other connections does Er Gen's novel have with his other works like I shall Seal the Heaven, Eternal Will, and etc.

don't know about the eternal as I never finished it. Issth is heavily connected to both POTT aur RI but too much so that it overshadows. In ISSTH the world building is expanded. AWWP is related to Wang lin and the world building and cultivation level expand heavily. All the five Mcs reached a very high step. Outside of time is also related albeit it is in a place too far from the other five mcs home place.

What’s the order I should read? From what I’ve read there’s multiple novels in different orders, would be appreciated if someone could help me with what I should read first etc

    Reply
    • Daoist_Zeref_ 1

Order is PoT <- RI <- Issth <- AwE <- Awwp But I would recommend Order Issth <- RI <- Pot <- Awe <- <-Awwp Why? Because... 1. Issth is the only novel that has many connections with other ones so if u read it first... it will create a mystery and make u hooked up... as many things plots blended so skillfully. 2. If you read the order according to time then. It will be not that much interesting as you will know one story then in the next one the mystery will not be there. 3. For example in Issth there is a unique race ( not spoiling)... its like a HUGE mystery and there are traces all over the journey that creates a stunning impact. But one of the other novel that race is explained fully... so if u read issth first then other you will get satisfaction

I'm getting confused with your arrows, is it; start from the right going towards the left or the other way around. . PS: Your explanations are confusing on whether to read Issth first or not. Then the arrows say otherwise.

Greeting Fellow Daoists, I was interested in starting the Ancient Scripture “Renegade Immortal”, and would like to inquire if I may start with the donghua, if so, how much was left out. Humble regards AncestorDuck

I think the manhua was discontinued so I never really checked how far that went but as for the Donghua, they're on Ep 37 with English sub avaliable on Anime Box, as for how far I'd say it's not really that far ahead, the Donghua is at around when Wang Lin breaks through to the Nascent Soul stage(In his avatar body, not the original body) and is getting ready to go back to Zhou to get vengeance on the Teng family.

Your right and wrong, Er Gen writes mediocre or average romance at best but they're at least far better than brain dead chinese novels where the fm just falls flat for the mc. Also Er Gen did had some problems with his wife IRL so that mightve affected his romance writing ability. Finally, read Er Gen's novel for their story rather than romance, imo he writes some of the best Cultivation novels out there and is qualities beyond your average Joe. Plus I read his novels when I'm stacking for the ones that I've already caught up to, like SS, Regressor journey of Cultivation (I think that's the title), and etc.

If u think like that then go read the system novels or r18s... Er Gen is one of the 5 Immortal king title holder the best CN Author. And he dont writes romance so what?... dont bother urself here then... calling him cr*p and all... u know nothing about writing u just reading to fulfill ur romance fantasy that u can't have irl.

You have heard wrong, although he isn't great at writing romance, it's not terrible and not an important enough part/plot point of the story to ruin/ not read it. This is the case for the three er gen novels I have read. All great and fun cultivation novels that I enjoyed. Edit: after googling what happened I have remembered everything and admit I was wrong. Renegade immortal romance isn't great However I would recommend I shall seal the heavens from the same author. Which has a much more simple and wholesome romance throughout the story. And at some parts of the story is quite a key point. On top of that it is one of the most interesting fun cultivation novels I have read.

Also personally I have to say, checking the wiki is a terrible way to check on whether or not you should read a novel. It basically spoils the general story, plot, and all the good stuff. What I recommend is to ask fellow readers to see what they think. I hesitated when I heard it had bad romance but now I'm about 600 chapters in and I'm enjoying most of it, there were some stale parts but you can just mow over them.

This book is a perfect example that this sites rankings are all sorts of messed up since it is easily worthy of top 10. But despite being #30 I can guarantee that this novel, like all of Er Gen’s novels are well thought out, meaningful, and interesting. The first 200 or so chapters have a few problems since he was a new author at the time but tolerate those and I can guarantee that whatever your preferences are in novels wether they are harem, no-harem, no romance, righteous protagonist, ruthless protagonist, slice of life, etc; won’t matter you as you will inevitably be drawn into this masterpiece of a cultivation novel.

Shadow Slave- Theres a reason why this is #1 because it is absolutely 🔥🔥 Regressor's tale of Cultivation is also amazing, the story is in depth and you feel emotions when reading it(I actually cried at one part😭), and the chapters are super long even tho it only has 300 chaps so far( One of my Personal BEST Cultivation LN that I have ever read) Legendary Mechanic, Xiao Han is the goat 🐐 Thousand Year Province- or something like that, it was also a good read and one of the quality ones among the Cultivation genre Memoir of the Returnee/Novel's Extra- Like most of Gee Gab Song's work, instead of focusing on a single character, his work provides complexity and adds a sense of living or soul into the important side/main characters. There's some fighting but I'd say the things he does best are the dramas and emotional appeal of his novel. Demon Prince in Academy- It has similarities to Gee Gab Song's work but the emotional appeal is stronger. Lmk if you need more recommendations

Depends what you are looking for, if you’re looking for good yet lighter hearted cultivation novels try out something by I eat tomatoes, if you’re looking for something more western fantasy yet still cultivation Sword God in the Magic World is a good one, if you’re are looking for an out of the box for the genre Reverend Insanity is a wonderful book. Of course these are only a general few, if you are looking for something in the system, kingdom building, apocalypse, or slice of life genres I also have some recommendations for those that I’ll gladly give you if you want them.

I got to say I’m a fan of all these books but unfortunately there aren’t many, off the top of my head the only cultivation novels you didn’t list there with true antihero/villain protagonists would be Warlock in the Magus World or Sword God in the Magic World after 200 or so chapters. There is also SKuLL’s novels but the mc in those are straight up psychopaths so that’s not really what you’re looking for. There are a few that are kinda similar despite having worse qualities but the writing styles aren’t for everyone. Examples would be Grasping Evil, Carefree Path of Dreams, and Plundering the Heavens

Id say this is Top tier cultivation novel, the world building is decent, the slow but solid start gives a refreshing read that i found completely logical and how id expect a cultivation story would go, author did really perfect his basics here, if you read as much novels in the genre you'd feel hes a pro, i didn't find this novel outstanding but its very close, if RI was the work of a genius then this is the work of an expert, the skills and fights are nice the power ups, realm travelling are interesting, with no feeling of disconnection from the novel it holds its ground from all aspects. Although i didnt complete this novel because of some repetitive aspects that i am not a fan of in this genre, but i can't say anything bad about this novel, it was one of my best reads no doubt just go for it.
